OK I know, the derby is a few months away and I should be having more post about seasonal food and drinks, but I had some bourbon and these Jones cream sodas and well the rest is history. Instead of using sugar or simple syrup, I used the cream soda instead. Jones pure cane sugar cream sodas. A little fizzy but the cream flavor really sets these off. This recipe is for a single drink but you will probably want to make these by the pitcher as the longer they sit the more minty they become. Go ahead and pretend like it is spring already.Give em a try, let me know what you think.
INGREDIENTS:
- 4 or 5 mint leaves (don’t include the stems, they can be bitter)
- 3 oz bourbon whisky (I prefer Maker’s Mark)
- 1 oz cream soda (Jones is the best, if not make sure it is made with pure sugar cane)
- crushed or shaved ice
PREPARATION:
Break or tear the mint leaves and place in glass. Pour in the whisky and soda. Allow to sit for 2 – 3 minutes while the mint oil is released from the leaves. Add the ice to fill the glass and stir.

sounds great. when I was in college I always drank Southern comfort with IBC creamsoda. I grew quite fond of it and the bottle looks like a 40
bet you could do the same with a Mojito, replecing the sugar and soda water with cream soda
