Black Snake Moan Martini

Black Snake Moan Martini

February 26, 2009  |  Cocktails  |  Print Recipe

The newest of my libation concoctions is similar to a dirty martini, but rather than the brine from the olive jar, I add a 1/2 ounce of my Black Mamba Sauce found here. It pairs with vodka to add a nice complex salty slash savory flavor. Black snake moan, black mamba sauce, get it? The name is also a reference to a song by the very late and so so great Blind Lemon Jefferson, not the recent movie starring Samuel Jackson and Christina Ricci. Never saw it. If you are not a real hardcore fan of blues music, you probably don’t know who he was. No matter if you like dirty martinis then you will probably enjoy a few Black Snake Moans. Just be careful because they bite.

INGREDIENTS:

To make Black Mamba Sauce (which is great on grilled beef also!)

  • 2 cups Kikkoman’s light soy sauce
  • 1 cup full bodied red wine
  • 1/2 cup rice vinegar
  • 1/2 cup red wine vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon crushed red pepper

To make the cocktail

  • 3 oz premium vodka
  • 1/2 – 1 oz Black Mamba Sauce (start with 1/2 and add more if desired)
  • 2 – 3 cubes of tofu

Vodka and sauce in a shaker full of ice. Pour and garnish with tofu.
